Chief Product & Technology Officer
Eric has over 15 years of experience in assay development and clinical lab operations. Eric most recently served as the Chief Scientific Officer at Variantyx where he was responsible for automating and scaling their whole genome-based testing workflows.
He previously spent a decade designing, building, and scaling Invitae’s clinical testing operations, which received over 1 million high complexity NGS tests in 2022. Prior to joining Invitae’s management team in 2016, he led assay development and sample-to-report operations teams.
Prior to his work at Invitae, he was a Senior Staff Scientist at Pacific Biosciences where he developed sample prep kits and workflows, and a Senior Staff Scientist at Invitrogen where he developed cross-platform NGS sample prep kits.
In 2007, Eric founded SEQanswers.com, a leading online resource for bench and bioinformatics scientists to share protocols and troubleshoot processes. He completed his BS in Genetics from the University of California, Davis and his PhD in Genetics in 2003 from Stanford University. He enjoys playing guitar, exercising, and spending time with his family at their home in Maine.
