Genetic testing may help you find answers for your child's developmental delays
Uncovering a genetic cause can guide treatment and provide faster clarity for your family.1

Why genetic testing for developmental delays?
If your child has developmental delays, including speech, motor, cognitive, or social challenges, genetic testing may help you find answers sooner. Exome testing analyzes thousands of genes at once to look for an underlying genetic cause.
Finding a diagnosis earlier can help you take the next steps with more clarity and confidence, including:
- Identifying treatments that may be more effective2
- Unlocking insurance coverage or state program eligibility for therapies
- Understanding the prognosis for your child2
- Learning if other family members may be affected2
- Connecting with families on a similar journey2

The right test can change everything:
Up to 50% of developmental delay cases are linked to a genetic cause3
Children with developmental delays experienced fewer hospitalizations and emergency room visits after receiving genetic testing4
Why families trust GeneDx for genetic testing

Now families can work with a virtual provider who can review your childās symptoms and history, help coordinate GeneDx testing, and support you through results and next steps.

How genetic testing works through a virtual provider
Complete information about your childās medical history, symptoms or concerns, and past testing. Input your insurance information and sign a consent to testing.
A DNAvisit provider will review your childās information and ensure genetic testing is appropriate for your family. They will select the appropriate test and place an order.
Youāll receive a sample collection kit from GeneDx. Collect a cheek swab sample and send it back to the lab. This may be just for your child or a sample for your child, yourself, and/or other family members, depending on the test ordered.
Once testing begins, your results will be ready in approximately 3 weeks. Your DNAvisit provider will review the findings with you during a virtual visit and explain what they mean for your child and your family.
