Martin Reese

President, Fabric Genomics

Dr. Martin Reese is the President of Fabric Genomics, a wholly owned subsidiary of GeneDx, where he leads efforts to revolutionize healthcare through AI-driven interpretation of the human genome. In this role, Dr. Reese oversees the delivery of comprehensive clinical sequence analysis solutions, including the Fabric Enterprise software platform and expert clinical interpretation services. Under his leadership, Fabric Genomics is expanding scalable genomic testing and interpretation capabilities worldwide.

A recognized leader in genomics and bioinformatics, Dr. Reese has co-founded and helped build three influential companies in the field—Neomorphic, IDbyDNA, and Fabric Genomics. At Neomorphic, he developed genome annotation software that enabled Affymetrix’s successful commercialization of microarray technology. He went on to launch IDbyDNA, a spinout from ARUP Laboratories, where he led the creation of the first real-time, web-based pathogen interpretation platform; the company was acquired by Illumina in 2022. Dr. Reese has also played a key role in collaborative efforts to advance genome annotation, contributing to the Berkeley Drosophila Genome Project and developing gene-finding algorithms in support of the Human Genome Project. He holds a master’s degree in Medical Informatics from the University of Heidelberg and a Ph.D. in Genetics jointly awarded by the University of Hohenheim, Germany, and the University of California, Berkeley.

His work has been instrumental in advancing genome annotation, machine learning in genomics, and the broader field of precision medicine.
