For patients tested at GeneDx, we offer patient education and genetic counseling services designed to accommodate the varying needs of patients and their families. Our licensed genetic counselors offer phone appointments with flexible scheduling options, including evening availability, as well as interpretation services, and secure video conferencing as needed.

What’s included in the service offering:

A patient consent education video that provides an overview of exome and genome testing, as well as your consenting options
The option for patients to speak with a licensed genetic counselor to answer questions about testing
Comprehensive post-test genetic counseling discussion to educate patients on their results and provide guidance on emotional and social concerns with sensitivity and care
Connecting patients with resources and support groups for ongoing assistance

Enlisting the help of our patient counseling team couldn’t be easier.

Step 1

Referring provider will download and fill out the post-test genetic counseling referral form.*

Step 2

Provider sends the post-test referral form at the time of order or after results are issued to the contact listed at the top of the referral form.

Step 3

The GeneDx patient counseling team will contact the patient to schedule an appointment.

Step 4

Following the appointment, a consultation overview is sent to the referring provider summarizing the discussion, plan, & recommendations.

*Alternatively, you can complete the electronic post-test referral form: Main form or the Rapid & ultra-Rapid form.
