Notice to Our Patients about a Data Security Incident at Quadax
GeneDx values the privacy and confidentiality of our patients’ information. Regrettably, this notification is regarding an incident with one of GeneDx’s vendors, Quadax, Inc. that may have involved some patients’ information.
GeneDx contracts with Quadax to provide billing services. On September 25, 2019, Quadax advised GeneDx that one of its vendors experienced unauthorized access to the vendor’s system beginning on August 6, 2019. This access may have allowed an unauthorized individual to view some of GeneDx’s patient information, including patients’ names, addresses, names of tests performed by GeneDx and the amount owed to GeneDx. Social security numbers and financial information were not involved in this incident.
GeneDx has no indication that any patient information has been misused. It began mailing notification letters to affected patients on November 22, 2019. GeneDx recommends affected patients review the statements they receive from their health care providers. If there are services the patient did not receive, please contact the provider immediately.
GeneDx deeply regrets any concern or inconvenient this incident may cause our patients. To help prevent something like this from happening in the future, GeneDx is working to review and enhance its vendor management and security assessments of vendors, such as Quadax.
