Isabelle Olivos-Glander, PhD

Isabelle Olivos-Glander is the Director of the Core Sanger Sequencing Lab at GeneDx. She earned her undergraduate degree at Bryn Mawr College and later earned her PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania working on the OCRL (Lowe’s syndrome) gene under Dr. Robert Nussbaum. She spent two years training at University of Maryland Medical Systems in the molecular diagnostic laboratory developing and offering genetic tests which included an Ashkenazi Jewish panel and Fragile X. Isabelle then worked as a fellow in the Genetic Disease Research Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for two years with Dr. Les Biesecker.
Isabelle was the first full-time employee to be hired by Drs. John Compton and Sherri Bale at GeneDx, and started working with the company in 2001. Isabelle is responsible for overseeing the Sanger sequencing laboratory. This department sequences over 400 different genes and processes ~2000 tests a month. Isabelle works on continually improving protocols and workflows to increase the quality of data and the promptness of results for our clientele.
