Renee Varga, Ph.D., Assistant Director, Core Lab Operations

is the Assistant Director of Clinical Laboratory Operations at GeneDx, Inc. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She spent two years as a fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in the laboratory of Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D. where she characterized a mouse model of Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. Her responsibilities at GeneDx include supervising laboratory personnel, managing the maternal cell contamination testing for prenatal samples, organizing the carrier/custom/rush tests, analyzing and interpreting sequence data and assisting Drs. Olivos-Glander and McAndrew with overseeing the daily functions of the clinical laboratory.
