Mustafa Saifi, Ph.D., Associate Director, Research and Development

Dr. Saifi is the Associate Director of Research and Development and heads the New Test Development team. He has been in the field of human genetics for 17 years. He received a BS in zoology from the University of Bombay, India, an MS in biotechnology from the University of Poona, India, and a PhD in human genetics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. His thesis involved research on sex determination genes and associated phenomena such as genomic imprinting and X-inactivation. He completed a fellowship on the same at the Centre for Human Genetics, Bangalore, India and did his postdoctoral work in genetics research of a neurological disorder, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He is also Adjunct Faculty at the Centre for Human Genetics and a member of the American College of Medical Genetics.
