Genetic Counselor
GeneDx, a CLIA-certified diagnostic laboratory in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is seeking a full-time BE/BC Genetic Counselor to join our clinical staff of more than 20 board-certified geneticists and genetic counselors.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing customer service to clinicians and genetic counselors on the full range of GeneDx tests.
- Writing customized reports on a vast array of genetic test results.
- Researching/developing educational materials to support new test development.
- As GeneDx supports multiple scientific conferences throughout the year, this position will require annual travel to Genetics meetings and exhibitor responsibilities.

NextGen Technologist I
GeneDx, Inc., CLIA-certified diagnostics laboratory located in Gaithersburg, MD, that provides molecular diagnosis for rare genetic diseases is recruiting for a NextGen Technologist. This individual will work as part of a team performing Next Generation sequencing.
Responsibilities include:
- Sample prep for NextGen sequencing
- Set up NextGen sequencing runs on Genome Analyzers
- PCR amplification and gel electrophoresis
- Use of robots for various applications
- NextGen data analysis (optional)
- Strict compliance of basic protocols for laboratory procedures
- Diligently and accurately records work and reports results to team leads, supervisors and test managers, as necessary
- Performs weekly assigned lab jobs e.g. maintaining inventory, equipment maintenance, data entry, etc.
- Functions as a member of a laboratory team, at supervisor’s discretion.
The position requires the knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of the Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field with up to one year of relevant experience. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical, as is the ability to work in a team environment.

Robotics/Automation Specialist
GeneDx, a leader in genetic diagnostics, is looking for an Automation Specialist to work with robotic systems in a DNA sequencing lab. The successful candidate will be a member of the R&D team, with a focus on genomics and high throughput sequencing, and will be responsible for several robotic platforms, such as Hamilton Star, Caliper Zephyr, Agilent Bravo, Beckman NX, Qiagility, etc. The candidate will be required to interact effectively with multiple groups within the company. This position requires superior communication skills as well as the ability to:
- Make technical presentations and perform instrument demonstrations;
- Troubleshoot and solve problems, provide software and basic hardware training;
- Design, execute, optimize and evaluate automation & validation of different reagent kits;
- Provide application development leadership in terms of identifying and implementing new applications and instrumentation;
- Author SOPs and generate application-specific technical content;
- Write automation programs by interpreting customer supplied requirements;
- Integrate robotic programs with work lists/LIMS;
- Be familiar with robotic programming;
- Work independently and make decisions based on experience and knowledge.
Experience/Skill Requirements:
- BS in biology/biochemistry/genetics/engineering, plus 2-5 years industry experience
- Experience with laboratory automation, methods development/programming, and genomics is critical
- Laboratory techniques in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Experience with next generation sequencing sample prep workflows is a plus.
- Must be technically competent and have good people skills to work with a diverse group of scientists
- Strong analytical skills, strong problem solving skills, strong written and communication skills, and ability to work independently

Responsibilities include:

Skills:
- Expertise in a scripting language such as Ruby, Perl, or Python.

Review Analyst
GeneDx is a diverse CLIA-certified diagnostics laboratory in Gaithersburg, MD that provides molecular diagnosis for rare genetic disorders, including prenatal diagnosis. GeneDx is recruiting for an ABMG-boarded Review Analyst to perform final review of sequencing data for diagnostic and predictive genetic testing.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing final technical review of sequencing and other molecular data
- Performing bioinformatics analysis and literature searches to provide clinical interpretation of variants
- Signing of final results for diagnostic molecular tests
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- ABMG Clinical Molecular Geneticist
- PhD in biology, chemistry or biomedical science
- Postdoctoral experience in clinical molecular genetics, molecular pathology, or genomics/proteomics
The successful candidate will have appropriate judgment and character for diagnostic and predictive testing, as well as excellent time management and communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in pertinent areas such as sequence analysis, online human genomics resource, and molecular test design, as well as fundamental knowledge in human genetics. Experience in a laboratory approved by CAP for molecular diagnostics is preferred.

Neurology Product Specialist
GeneDx is expanding our product offering and our sales presence. We are looking for four field-based, Neurology Product Specialists in the following areas; West (LA/SF), Central (Cleveland, Chicago), Eastern (Philadelphia, NY/NJ) and Canada (Toronto). We currently offer a large menu of genetic tests which help diagnose a broad range of mitochondrial, metabolic, developmental and seizure disorders. The position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify and qualify potential customers and develop sales strategies and objectives for each account
- Establish sample routing channels through hospitals utilizing direct bill, courtesy draws or phlebotomy agreements.
- Communicate updates, launches and pertinent information on a routine basis to targeted customers.
