Specimen requirements for prenatal diagnosis and maternal cell contamination testing:

• amniotic fluid, 20 mL sterile  
• amniocyte or CV cultures, 2 T25 flasks near confluence, sterile 
• cleaned CVS tissue, 10 villi (minimum 8 villi) in sterile medium 
• CVS cultures are discouraged due to the tendency to contain maternal cell contamination. If necessary send 2 T25 flasks, near confluence, under advisement.

Cultures must be topped off with sterile medium immediately before shipping.

All specimens will be tested for Maternal Cell Contamination. Send a maternal blood or buccal sample for comparison. Other relatives' specimens may be required.

Ship overnight at ambient temperature, to arrive Tuesday-Friday. In hot weather a cool pack can be enclosed. Shipping costs are generally the responsibility of the sender.
