Yuriy Shevchenko, Ph.D.

is Director of Research and Development at GeneDx, Inc. He received his Master's degree in Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (Russian Academy of Sciences). His doctoral research was conducted in the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, as a part of the Human Genome Project. After a year in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Cantor at Boston University, he became a visiting fellow at the NIH, where he spent two years developing methods for DNA-based diagnostics of hereditary skin disorders in Dr. Sherri Bale's laboratory and another two years at the NIH Intramural Sequencing center under Dr. Eric Green. His training and experience make him an expert in a wide variety of molecular biology applications and genomics operations.
